Atlanta Braves Star Outfielder Injured

Ronald Acuña Jr. To Miss Remainder of 2024 Season

Atlanta Braves Star Outfielder Injured

Acuña Jr. Suffers Season-Ending Injury

Atlanta Braves outfielder and reigning National League Most Valuable Player Ronald Acuña Jr. will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after suffering a season-ending injury. Acuña Jr. was injured during a game against the San Diego Padres on Saturday, July 29th. He left the game with what was initially believed to be a minor knee injury, but an MRI later revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

The Braves issued a statement on Sunday, August 5th, confirming the extent of Acuña Jr.'s injury and announcing that he will undergo surgery. The surgery is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 8th.

Acuña Jr. is expected to make a full recovery, but he will likely miss the entire 2024 season. This is a major blow to the Braves, who are currently fighting for a playoff spot. Acuña Jr. is one of the most dynamic players in baseball and his absence will be felt on both offense and defense.

The Braves will now have to find a way to replace Acuña Jr. in their lineup. The most likely candidate to take over in center field is Eddie Rosario, who was acquired from the Cleveland Guardians in a trade earlier this season.
