F1 Sprint Race Calendar for 2024 Season Unveiled
Miami Grand Prix to Host First Sprint Race in May
Six Sprint Races to Feature in the 2024 Formula 1 Season
The Formula 1 Sprint race format is set to make its return in the 2024 season, with a total of six races scheduled throughout the calendar. The first of these races will take place at the Chinese Grand Prix, which will be held from April 19-21.
The remaining five Sprint races will be held at the following locations:
- Miami Grand Prix (May 3-5)
- Austrian Grand Prix (June 28-30)
- United States Grand Prix (June 30 - July 2)
- Red Bull Energy Station Las Vegas Grand Prix (November 16-18)
The F1 Sprint race format was first introduced in 2021 as a way to add an additional element of excitement to the race weekend. Sprint races are held on Saturday afternoon, with the results determining the starting grid for the main race on Sunday. Each race is approximately 100 kilometers in length and is run on a shortened circuit.
The F1 Sprint race format has been met with mixed reactions from fans and drivers alike. Some have praised the format for adding an extra level of drama and excitement to the weekend, while others have criticized it for being too short and for disrupting the traditional race format.
Despite the mixed reviews, the F1 Sprint race format is set to continue in the 2024 season. It remains to be seen whether the format will be able to win over the skeptics and become a permanent part of the Formula 1 calendar.
